Excell Quilts are designed and handcrafted in the Somerset countryside by textile artist Kayleigh Excell.
Combining the traditional craft of quilting with a contemporary design approach, I create textile art with a distinctive folk art aesthetic. Incorporating curved piecing, machine quilting and hand-sewn appliqué details, I use fabric, thread and stitch to create pieces that capture a sense of place and a fleeting moment.
After years of living in London and working in the corporate world, my life took a wonderful turn when I became a mother. While caring for my young children, I discovered quilting and taught myself the craft during quiet moments. It was through quilting that I discovered a passion for artistic expression through fabric and stitch. What began as a creative pastime gradually grew into Excell Quilts.
Now living in the peaceful Somerset countryside with my partner and children, I’m surrounded by the landscapes and wildlife that continue to inspire my work.
I hope each piece offers a sense of calm and warmth, and a connection with the natural world.
